Sinclair Lewis

Sinclair Lewis was one of the most successful novelists of his time but is largely forgotten today. He was the first American awarded the Nobel Prize for literature but is now probably best-known for his 1935 novel, It Can't Happen Here, which imagines a fascist being elected president of the United States. He drank himself to death by sixty-five. Seeing into the future must've taken its toll.
