About the author
Johnny Rector, was born in Hickory, North Carolina. Started playing guitar at the age of 13. He has
been a free-lance guitarist/ teacher in the Chicagoland area for the past 25 years. Studied guitar
under Joseph DePiano of Chicago. Studied dance band arranging under the well-known Bill Russo of
Chicago. Studied a condensed Joseph Schillinger method under Daniel Garamoni also of Chicago.
He is the author of several other well-known guitar books which have gained prominence throughout
the country.
Johnny Rector is perhaps one of the most prolific writers of guitar material currently on the
scene.
