About this ebook

An instant #1 New York Times bestseller!

The first thrilling mystery in the new North Falls series from Karin Slaughter, New York Times bestselling author of Pretty Girls and the Will Trent Series.

Welcome to North Falls—a small town where everyone knows everyone. Or so they think.

Until the night of the fireworks. When two teenage girls vanish, and the town ignites.

For Officer Emmy Clifton, it’s personal. She turned away when her best friend's daughter needed help—and now she must bring her home.

But as Emmy combs through the puzzle the girls left behind, she realizes she never really knew them. Nobody did.

Every teenage girl has secrets. But who would kill for them? And what else is the town hiding?

"Karin Slaughter's new series starts with a book that is a knock-out punch... My God. Sign me up for more."  — Dervla McTiernan, #1 internationally bestselling author of What Happened to Nina?

This book is the first of her new series. While it was entertaining and emotional, it wasn't really thrilling or fast-paced. I had actually guessed who the bad guy was early on. I am also surprised at the errors in the book. Karin Slaughter is a well- known author and should be able to afford an editor. If you've read all of her books like I have, just know that this one isn't as good as her Will or Jeffrey books. Hopefully, the next one in this series ends up being thrilling and fast-paced. 🤞

A new series by one of my favorite authors is always a huge treat. This one starts out in the past and progresses to the present. Secrets, lies and evil are present in every page. Small towns are not always warm and cozy because there are bad people everywhere. Emmy a police officer has felt guilty for years. She feels like she could have done more when two teenagers went missing and the worst happened. This is a suspenseful mystery that has a shocking ending. Like all this authors books there

A fast-paced thriller, this story expertly intertwines the disappearance of two teenage girls with a similar case twelve years later. Officer Emmy Clifton and Agent Jude Archer navigate corruption and betrayal in their small town after a shocking event involving the Sheriff. The narrative delves into family discord and the chilling predatory cycle of a new character, keeping readers obsessively engaged through suspenseful twists and turns.
