This graduate/upper-division undergraduate textbook provides a solid grounding in the theory underlying the design and analysis of hydraulic structures, including spillways, energy dissipators, culverts, flow measuring structures and others. C.S. James (BSc(Eng), MS, PhD) is (retired) Professor Emeritus in the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. The book is based on the development of a postgraduate course at this university by the author over more than twenty years.
