When Cheerville’s Historical Society launches its first Halloween Ghost Walk, retired CIA agent Barbara Gold expects fog machines, costumes, and a few silly scares. Instead, she and her friend Liz discover the dead body of a local antiques dealer hidden inside the carriage house.

Soon the town is buzzing again with talk of its old ghost legend, the Widow of Whitcomb Hill, as rumors fly and tourists flock to see the spookiest side of Cheerville. But when a young tour guide is attacked, Barbara realizes something much darker is at play.

With the help of Liz and Octavian, Barbara unravels a trail that winds from Cheerville’s Prohibition bootleggers to its lingering ghosts. But can she piece it all together before Halloween night ends in another tragedy?
