I have been using the free version for a few years now. I started using it when I was doing wilderness search and rescue, one of our training rules was to pause training when lightning is within 10 miles. This is especially true on the water, so I have continued to use it when I go paddleboarding. The app is super easy to use, set it up to notify you just how you want it, and show strikes up to 1 hour ago. I do wish it had a longer history for those midnight storms.

Lightning Tracker (Pro) works as advertised for near real time notification of lighting. You can easily get alerts for strikes near you, and adjust the radius you consider 'near'. If you don't allow the app to track your location all the time, it will only alert on the location you last ran the app. However, allowing tracking will easily fix that or you can just open and shut the app if you are at all concerned about lighting.

Been using it for years. Just now I got notified, sky looks fine, no reports said lightning but up it comes. I check other weather apps and they don't show the strike close by... Yet. They di after a while but lightning pro shows it so fast I get time to power down my equipment. Best app I ever bought honestly.
